Over the last few weeks we’ve been hard at work adding new features and enhancing FileFactory! Below is a brief list of what we’ve been up to!

DIRECT DOWNLOADS FOR PREMIUM MEMBERS

FileFactory now offers Premium members the ability to direct download files! That means your download will begin straight away, rather than having to load a download page in FileFactory. In order to activate this feature, simply login, and then click “My Account”, and then select “Premium”. The option is located under the “Features” sub-tab.

FILE MANAGER IMPROVEMENTS

DELETING FOLDERS

We have added an extra layer of confirmation onto the “Delete Folder” button in the FileFactory File Manager. You will now be required to type the word ‘DELETE’ before a folder is deleted. This means that you now have an extra level of protection to prevent an accidental click removing an entire folder instead of a single file. This feature can be disabled via the Options panel, and the behaviour will return to the way it was before - a simple yes/no prompt.

DEFAULT VIEW

We have added the ability for you to control the default way files are sorted in the FileFactory File Manager! Simply open the options panel and change the default sort order, it couldn’t be easier!

EXPORT FOLDER LINKS

If you view the contents of a folder that you own, you will now see an extra link below the share URL called “Export Links”. Clicking this will open a new window allowing you to easily share the download links to every file in the folder in common link formats (HTML, Forums (BBCode), and plain text)!

UPLOADED FILE LINKS

From now on, when you complete an upload, whether it be local or remote, you will now be presented with a screen that automatically generates download links for the newly uploaded files in common formats (HTML, Forums (BBCode), and plain text links).

IMPROVED REMOTE UPLOADS

We have made the remote uploader a lot more flexible. A lot of the changes are behind the scenes, but one that will be immediately noticeable is the fact that you can now use the RapidShare or MegaUpload uploaders without having to turn off the direct download option in your RapidShare or MegaUpload account! You can also now retrieve RapidShare files that have the “Direct Download” option set.

WE REMEMBER YOUR REMOTE LOGIN DETAILS

We have also added a “Remember” option below the username/password fields on the RapidShare and MegaUpload forms. If you select this option, the next time you want to upload something from the same computer your remote username and password will be automatically filled in for you!

Regarding the remember option mentioned above - there was occasionally an issue with very short RapidShare login names (for example, abc) being saved incorrectly. This is now fixed; you are able to use anything RapidShare allow as the login name and FileFactory will remember it correctly!

BATCH REMOTE UPLOADING IS NOW EASIER

Have you ever wanted to be able to paste a list of file links into the remote downloader and have us automatically go and download them for you? Well now you can! Simply click on the “As a Batch” link on the remote upload forms and the form will change into a big box where you can paste the listing of links.

To compliment the batch uploader mentioned above, you are now able to specify a filename for each file you upload remotely. This new feature is available across all of the remote upload forms. If you use the batch uploader, you can select the “rename” option (compulsory on MegaUpload), and the links will all be automatically transferred into the individual link form allowing easy renaming. Don’t forget the file extension!

Finally, when you successfully complete a remote upload, the folder you sent the files to will be automatically pre-selected when you perform your next upload, until you close your browser.

FileFactory is pleased to announce it has launched a file sharing application on Facebook. Now you can easily share files and photos with your friends! Create an unlimited number of shared folders and choose who has access to each folder. Or, create a private folder just for the stuff you don’t want anyone else to see.

Please note that you can’t share your FileFactory.com files on Facebook and vice versa - they are two totally different services.

File management is now much easier! We have totally redesigned our file manager so it now handles thousands of files, works on more browsers and places much less load on your computer / browser.

The file manager requires a browser which supports Javascript, CSS and Ajax. We have tested it on the following browsers:

• IE 6 and above
• Safari 3 and above (PC and Mac)
• FireFox
• Opera

We are pleased to announce a major revamp of our Rewards program. Now more people than ever can achieve Rewards, and you can choose what you would like to do with your Rewards points.

One of the major changes is that POINTS NO LONGER EXPIRE EACH MONTH. That means that if you don’t have enough points in one month to generate a Reward, just keep earning points until you do.

One completed download is equal to one point. Once you reach 10,000 points, you can generate a token which is equal to 30 days FileFactory Premium membership. You can apply the token to your own account, or give it away to a friend or family member.

Once you reach 20,000 points, you can convert your points to cash! Cash payments are made on the 15th day of the following month.

Now there are even more ways to generate points. If you have a popular website or popular files, and you send traffic to FileFactory, you are rewarded each time one of those visitors purchases a FileFactory Premium subscription. You earn 2,000 points for each new paying member!

We have just completed an upgrade of FileFactory Turbo, so Premium members can download multiple files with ease.

Now when you click the “New Download” button in FileFactory Turbo you can paste in hundreds of links at a time. Turbo will process downloads according to the download settings in Turbo (e.g. maximum number of connections, maximum connections per file and so on). For example, paste in 100 links and depending on your settings Turbo will probably download 5 - 10 files at a time and automatically continue to download the remaining files once the first batch of files have finished.

Our Premium links also work with most of the major download managers such as GetRight, Download Accelerator Plus and FlashGet. Visit our Link Checker page to generate direct download links which you can use with download managers. The link checker also checks the validity of each file before you download, so it makes sense to use it regularly to make sure that all the parts of the file that you wish to download are available.

Premium Members can now generate direct download links for any files they wish to download. This is how you do it:

1. Go to the Link Checker page under the Tools tab.
2. Paste in the urls of the files you wish to download (e.g. http://www.filefactory.com/file/abcdefg. You can paste up to 100 links at a time.
3. Press check.
4. The link checker then checks that all links are valid, and displays normal download urls and direct download urls so you can download the files.
5. Add the direct download links to your download manager using the techniques specified on the Link Checker page.

We are currently working on an upgrade to FileFactory Turbo which will enable customers to paste in multiple download links at a time (batch downloads).
